| Classic "DORCAS" thimble by, CHARLES HORNER of HALIFAX. This thimble is post 1905. In a very clean and undamaged condition. It is marked CH 8. DORCAS, with a flat top, as opposed to a dome. It is covered in the classic Honeycombe pattern. It measures 22. mm. tall, with a base diameter of 16. mm. The "DORCAS" was invented by Charles Horner, and was patented in 1885. It was made and produced for the professional needlework trade. It has a steel core covered in two layers of English Sterling Silver.
