This has been part of my extensive “blue & white” collection which I am now breaking up following the installation of a new kitchen.
I believe it was originally a salt cellar - the hole in the top (3/4 inch diameter) should house a stopper and there is a small hole in its beak. There are no chips, cracks or scratches on the piece.
The measurements of the bird are as follows:
Length from tail to beak: 4 1/2 inches
Width : approx. 2 1/2 inches
Height: approx 2 1/2 inches to top of crest
I have tried to identify the mark on the base but to no avail. However, I believe it is likely to be made in the 1970's
All of my items are very carefully wrapped and this is reflected in the p &p costs. I am prepared to ship overseas but check with me for postage costs before bidding. All other questions shall be answered promptly and as accurately as I can, so please don't hesitate to contact me.
