TITLE. "RESTING HERD"

DESCRIPTION. A subtle landscape and cattle watercolour by British nineteenth century artist  Charles James Adams.  He was known for this type of watercolour and highly regarded as an animal painter.  This is a lovely example of his work.  It is a decent size and signed by a well collected Victorian artist - and it has good commercial value.  They usually sell for between £2000-5000 at gallery level.

Just look at the detail - the yellow bracken - the green reflection in the river and the splendid way the cattle are portayed.

Signed lower left C J Adams and dated 1887

Provenance - . Bonham.  Fine Art Trade Guild label verso.

No reserve auction  - priced to sell.

CONDITION.
Watercolor on paper. Image size 33cm by 44cm and in good condition with slight scratching out.

FRAME.
Housed in a 19th century gily gallery frame which compliments the picture 37cm by 53cm. In very good condition and ready to hang. FineArt Trade Guild framers label verso

Born Gravesend. studied Leicester School of Art - Mulready gold medal for life drawing.  art teacher at Leicester School of Art Exh 1881-1919.   Lived at Leicester - Billingham Sussex - Midchurch 1901 - Guildford 1904 Farnham 1905.  Painter in oils and watercolour subjects including animal and   genre.
