Charles Edward Wilson was born in Whitwell, Nottinghamshire. He resided in Sheffield pre-1900 and then in Addiscombe Surrey where he painted many local views (including this one!). He was a well reknowned artist whose work is as popular today as it was 100 years ago.
He exhbited widely at the Royal Academy, New Watercolour Society, the Royal Institute of Watercoloursists (where he was a full member) , Glasgow Institute and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
