Folio - 19.5 Inches. Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown. London. 1813. First Edition. A scarce work by Bell, consisting of Fasciculus I (all published). Bound in original dark brown card wrappers with paper title label to upper cover. Spine repapered and inner hinges restored professionally. Exuberantly inscribed in ink to the free front endpaper 'To Professor Brugmans with the author's compliments' with a later ink name of a Dr Harvey, dated 1900 underneath. vii, (1), 45, (1) pages plus 12 plates. Collated complete. Some discolouration towards the fore margins but generally tidy with no tears or loss. Housed in a modern custom made green cloth slipcase with red morocco label to upper cover with gilt titles. Provenance: Sebald Justinus Brugmans (1763-1819), Dutch philosopher (presentation inscription from the author); Van der Hoeven (bookplate, signature on front free endpaper). Previously sold at Christies New York for $4200 as Lot 91 on June 14th, 2005. Wellcome II, p. 136.
