Overtures is a CD of orchestral overtures arranged for brass band.

In the early days of brass bands, much of their repertoire consisted of arrangements of popular classical music of the time; overtures, operatic arias and selections from operettas.

Brass bands can still be heard playing orchestral overtures to this day although the skill of the arrangers has meant that more complex music has been made available in this way.

This CD includes some of the most popular overtures played by brass bands, superbly played by one of the best brass bands around, Fodens brass band.
