CD OF PHOTO ALBUM WW2 BRITISH ARMY IN SIERRA LEONE x380

Here I offer a CD containing 380 high resolution scans produced from 2 original photo albums which belonged to a soldier who served in the West African state of Sierra Leone 1945-1947 .

There are many fascinating photos within this collection covering a diverse range of interests. Our man was in the British Amy R.E.M.E . I suspect he was a mechanic of some description . As there are shots of  Scammel and Bedford recovery trucks , a fair number of photos which show overturned / crashed trucks , Tanks / armoured cars , 3 interesting photos of an army vehicle "graveyard"...featuring rows of dead armoured cars , bren carriers and army trucks .

There are approx 25 photos that our man has taken of Aircraft carrier HMS Implacable ( including one of plane lift and flightdeck ) , there are also photos of another aircraft carrier HMS Triumph x2 Destroyers HMS St.Kitts  x2 , HMS Cleopatra ..these ships were part of the Royal Navy fleet to Visit Freetown Sierra Leone on Feb 9th - 12th 1947 .

Many other named troopships & Royal Navy supply ships are named / pictured ..including the ship he sailed on HMT Empire Ken .

There are many photos of Sierra Leone and its people ..including a fair number of tribes people ..how times have changed !

Other photos include the local railway , 2 pics of a crash landed Junkers JU 52 , and a number of group photos of men in uniform , both British and local men in uniform .

As said earlier a fascinating insight into this mans service and Sierra Leone of 60 years ago .
