Here I offer a Cd  containing over 120 high resolution scans produced from a  newly acquired original WW2 RAF photo album .

The album belonged to Flight Sergeant L.E. Beckett who served with the 99th bomber Squadron . I have also added to the cd some scans of his prewar RAF Pilots flying logbook ..this book covers his training june 1938 - may 1939 ...when he was flying in tiger -moths , Harts and D.H.86 ..other planes listed that he had flown are Atlas , Victoria , Valencia , Heyford ( biplane heavy bomber ) ,Hendon ,Harrow ,and Stranraer ( flying boat ) . His record of service starts in 1932 at Cranwell ,from there he  goes on to Hendon , 38 Squadron Mildenhall and in 1938 he is at Felixstowe , presumbably where he flew the Stranraer . There are loose photos which cover this period of service .Some nice plane photos including 3 of the same Harrow bomber K7006 , crashed Siskin ( dated 1933 Cranwell ) , Whitley bomber K7235 , Heyford heavy bomber , Bristol Bulldog .

The photo album  itself covers his service between 16.01.1943 when he boards SS.Duchess of Richmond on his posting to India to end of war in 1946 .. In India  he serves with the 99th Squadron . In July 1945  the Squadron moved on to the remote  Cocos Islands in preparation for the invasion of Malaya ..initially operating Wellington bombers then using consolidated Liberators taking on a more transport /supply role towards the wars end .

The album has  photos of  Indian locals / street scenes interesting in the own right . There are the original train tickets /passes etc which I have also scanned . But for me the real highlights are the aerial photos ...one shows bombing over Rangoon , another shows the bombing of a  bridge in Burma ...there is also a pics taken from the plane showing parachute air drop of supplies to Guerillas in Burma ..3 later photos show aerial photos taken shortly after VJ Day , over 3 different Prisoner Of War Camps ...each camp is surrounded by Jungle ..where the 99th provided much needed supplies via airdrops .

Other interesting photos within the album show RAF Group photos ..including one on and around a Liberator ....photos on the Cocos Islands , 3  showing runway from above ...one shows a Liberator about to take off from Cocos . In one  photo we see  Field Marshal Wavell at a presentation ...and there is also a pic of the Prince of Wales with members of the RAF .

This collection offers a fascinating glimpse into this mans service and tells a story .

feel free to view my other cds currently listed ..all produced from original photo albums within my collection .
