CD OF ORIGINAL WW1 NAVAL PHOTOS TROOPSHIP GALLIPOLI

Here I offer a cd containing 47 high res ( 1200dpi ) scans produced from 2 original WW1 photo albums within my collection .

They feature HMS Orotava ...pics of commander Godfrey Corbett..Lt Commander Miller , 2 group crew shots taken on deck and 4 photosof crewmembers and various ships guns .

Other photos relate to troopship HMT Transylvania ...2 photos taken at Alexandria May 1915 ..of troops ( 3000) bound for Gallipoli boarding the ship .Troops on deck ,machine gun company on deck , lovely photos of the ships wireless room and ships marconi operators ( may 1915 ) , 2 original photos of the allied fleet about toleave Lemnos for a bombardment of the Dardenelles ( may 1915 ) Photo of troopship HMT Mauritania leaving Lemnos (May 1915).

There are also a few photos which are WW1 RFC dated 1916-1917 ..nice shot of WW1 plane and pic of Pilot in front of plane ...finally our man is seen in RFC uniform alongside a James motorbike ...great image of the bike . A few other photos date 1910-1912.The albums owner seen as a young man with family members .

RMS Orotava ...a liner /mail ship was built in 1889 ...it sunk in 1896 ,but was raised and reconditioned ..during Boer war it was used as a troopship , in 1914 it was converted to a armed merchant cruiser ..HMT Orotava was involved at Gallipoli ...and also played a part in the blockade of Germany as part of the 10th cruiser squadron ....scrapped in 1919 .

HMT Transylvania used as a troopship carrying large numbers of troops to their slaughter at Gallipoli ,it was torpedoed by a german u-boat on the 4th May 1917 .
