CD FROM ORIGINAL PHOTO ALBUM WW2 HMS OCEAN 1946

Here I offer a cd containing 38,  1200dpi high resolution scans ( much higher res than listing photos ) produced from original photos which belonged to Jack Mcfarlane , who served on Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier HMS Ocean towards the end of WW2 . The photos date to around 1945 -1946 .

There are some great shots of the carrier , including some taken from the air , below flight deck , 9 photos of planes that look similar to spitfires ..actually firefly and seafires ,  2 of these photos show   one that has crash landed on flight deck .  7 photos photos show a Otter flying boat and Jack working on them .There are 3 photos of the "first ever jet on the carrier" , a vampire ...we see it landing and taking off ....3 photos show sea hornet prototype on the ship.

2 photos show town class cruiser HMS  Liverpool ,1 photo of USS Little Rock , a large US warship ...1 good photo of Carrier HMS Illustrious ...1photo taken at grand harbour Malta aug 1946 ,captioned Sunday divisions taken by capt .Casper Johns . Another photo dated 30.08.46 taken at Triploi shows the Gordon Highland Pipe Band on deck .

Finally there are 3 photos showing HMS Sumarez and HMS Volage both ships suffered severe damage when they hit mines off the coast of Albania  , Oct 22nd 1946. Volage lost 40ft of her bow and 44 of her crew  , the saumarez burned for 10 hours , explosives were used cutting her in half ..the photo I have were taken in Malta , where the damage can be clearly seen .
