Buxton Orr was an immensely talented composer as well as being a Doctor. He also held a first class honours degree in physiology. 

Ian Bousfield gives a truly memorable performance of the Trombone Concerto, while the other tracks feature the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama Wind Orchestra and Brass Ensemble. 

The music is in turns powerful and strident, dark and brooding, yet always with a hint of Celtic passion..
