50th Anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ( NATO ) 1949 - 1999 first day cover

JS(CC)61 FDC RAF cover for 50 years of NATO with the NATO symbol and 50th anniversary logo. The artwork by Tony Theobald shows various aircraft, land vehicles and ships of the various countries which make up NATO including:

Top part - aircraft:

Belgian Air Force General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon
Czech Republic McDonnel Douglas F-18 Hornet
Danish Air Force Westland Sea King helicopter

Middle part - land vehicles:
I am afraid that I have only familiar with air and sea - so not 100% sure which these are, however the Canadian Armed Forces, Italian army and the Spanish army are represented among the five armoured vehicles

Lower part of the artwork - surface vessels:
US aircraft carrier ( possibly USS Nimitz , USS Dwight D. Eisenhower , USS Carl Vinson , USS Theodore Roosevelt , USS Abraham Lincoln , USS George Washington , USS John C. Stennis , USS Harry S. Truman or USS Ronald Reagan )

Royal Navy aircraft carrier ( possibly HMS Invincible , Illustrious or Ark Royal )
with Sea King and Merlin helicopters as well as Sea Harriers on deck
accompanied by a Royal Navy Type 23 Frigate

The cover bears the complete set of Belgian 17 cent NATO stamps cancelled with 50 years of NATO Brussels 1000 postmark for the first day of issue 15.03.1999. The cover has been flown in a Vickers VC10 of No 10 Squadron in support of NATO operations in the Balkans.
