CARVED MAHOGANY ‘WESTERING HOME’ MUSICAL TRINKET BOX 

A really beautifully carved mahogany musical trinket box that plays the Scottish tune ‘Westering Home’. The tune’s chorus words are :-

And it’s westering home, and a song in the air,

Light in the eye, and it’s goodbye to care.

Laughter o’ love and a welcoming there,

Isle of my heart, my own one.

This is a lovely tune and a great Scottish favourite and was probably made in the ‘heady 50’s’! The box measures 7” by 4 ½” and is almost 3” high. The movement is Swiss by ‘Thorens’ and is in perfect working order. This is a lovely little musical box and of particular interest to those who love and dream of Scotland!
