CARPET RUG, OLD HANDMADE UNUSUAL COLOURFUL

Our colourful old carpet/rug needs new home. It has been in family for about 25 years and we no longer need it. It came from a friend who had travelled in the Middle East and North Africa so that is where it probably comes from. We think it is made of cotton, but it might be fine wool. It has a fringe both ends. It is a flatweave, measures 8ft long (2.4m) x 2ft 10 inch (1.7m) wide. It is probably handmade, and has lots of vivid exciting colours, mostly reds and very deep reds and dark orange, with some blue, green, pink etc. The pattern is mostly geometric, with a figure of a woman in a skirt in one half. The rug had been made in two pieces, joined with stitches down the middle. It is rather faded, particularly on one side where we had it laid down in a sunny room. Please note this rug has been used in a family room, there are a couple of stains on it. It is not in new condition. It is very attractive, and could be put on the wall as a decorative feature, or laid over a couch. Because it is quite heavy, we would prefer you to come and collect it. London area.
