Here is a stunningly beautiful, antique, reticulated, hand-painted Dresden plate by Carl Thieme circa 1890.

Carl Thieme was founded in 1872 in Dresden and was famous for recreating and decorating pieces in the Meissen style.

This plate is made in hard paste porcelain and in the centre is hand-painted with a large stunning spray of “Deutsche Blumen”, naturalistic flowers. This type of decoration was introduced by J. G. Horoldt at Meissen, circa 1740, and derived from engravings illustrating the works of the botanist, Johann Wilhelm Weidemann. The reticulation round the rim alternates between hand-painted floral sprays and cartouche panels. The edge of the plate is scalloped, and all the gilded enhancements are in pure gold.
The plate measures 8 ¼ ins (21 cms) in diameter.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.
This extremely fine Carl Thieme plate is a beautiful piece for the discerning collector. |
