Report itemFOR SALE BY AUCTION IS THIS SUPERB WINE BOTTLE HOLDER WHICH WAS MADE AT THE WELL RESPECTED CARL DEFFNER of ESLINGEN,GERMANY FACTORY CIRCA 1900. THE MAIN BODY IS MADE OF HIGHLY DECORATED COPPER WHICH IS SUPPORTED BY FOUR STYLISH BRASS FEET ALL VERY MUCH IN THE ART NOUVEAU MANNER. THE DESIGN WHICH RUNS ALL THE WAY ROUND THE BODY IS OF APPLES AND LEAVES. IT IS CLEARLY BACKSTAMPED WITH THE DEFFNER MARK TO THE UNDERNEATH AND IT MEASURES SLIGHTLY OVER 4.25 INCHES HIGH WITH A WIDTH OF APPROX. 5 INCHES FROM FOOT TO FOOT. THE BOTTLE HOLDER IS OF SEAMED CONSTRUCTION AND THE VISIBLE PARTS ARE POLISHED WITH A DARKER PATINA TO THE UNDERNEATH AND INSIDE. ALTHOUGH POLISHED IT IS NOT OVERPOLISHED AND ALL OF THE EMBOSSED WORK IS STILL STRONG. OVERALL IT IS IN VERY GOOD USED ANTIQUE CONDITION WITH NO DENTS,HOLES OR REPAIRS. AS I HAVE TRIED TO SHOW IN PICTURE TWO THE SEAM HAS OPENED SLIGHTLY AT THE TOP- FOR ABOUT 0.75 CMS - I THINK THIS WOULD BE A FAIRLY EASY REPAIR IF IT BOTHERED YOU BUT IT HONESTLY DOES NOT AFFECT DISPLAY AND OF COURSE IT REMAINS PERFECTLY USEABLE. ALL MY POSTAL CHARGES INCLUDE LOSS INSURANCE AND REQUIRE A SIGNATURE ON RECEIPT. AS USUAL I HAVE NO RESERVE ON THIS ITEM SO PLEASE BID WITH CONFIDENCE IT WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY DEFFNER OR ART NOUVEAU COLLECTION.
