Hello Ebayers and welcome to my advert for a C & M twin axle braked trailer for towing sailing boats. The trailer originally was custom built for a 26.5 foot Baker Super Seal at the start of the 1980's which explains the shape of the wooden cross members as the Seal had a near flat bottom hull and a fully lifting keel. The boat was sold at the end of last season to somone who didn't want the trailer. We had only shortly before put four brand new Nankang tyres on it, so they have done about 130 miles and have over 7mm tread all round. The trailer is in very good condition and all the electrics work fine. The hitch and brake activator etc all operate correctly and the hitch has a working reverse lock out allowing the trailer to be reversed using the towcar. The trailer lightboard on the back can be detached allowing it to be fitted directly to the rear of the boat, or left on the trailer rear when a boat is not loaded. The particular design of the trailer is such that it could quite easily be modified if you have a different make of yacht. The Seal used to sit on the two wooden crossmembers and over hang the rear of the trailer by about 6 feet. The crossmembers could easily be swapped for a reshaped pair to suit your own boat. Obviously the trailer lends itself to lifting keel boats but for example I would imagine that Southerly type boats may well fit on it. While its a trailer for towing it equally can act as a cost effective cradle for overwintering in the boatyard etc as you need with the added versatility of being mobile when needed. In terms of laden weight, the chassis plate on the trailer is not stamped. However, my Dad tells me the Seal weighed around 1.5 tonnes. If you do not have a Baker Super Seal, the trailer dimensions so you can figure out if your boat fits are: Total trailer length: 6.4 metres Bow rest mounting to rear of trailer: 4.9 metres Total width of trailer: 2.5 metres Width of wooden crossmembers: 2.0 metres Length between wooden crossmembers: 2.15 metres Its a very solidly made trailer and could be very useful to someone for storing or moving their boat from the boatyard, thereby saving the substantial yard fees over winter as we had previously done. Its also possible to antifoul a boat in situ upon it. The trailer is currently in the village of Kimpton, near St Albans in Hertfordshire. As a classified advert, feedback is not important so if you would like to view it etc please feel free to call me on 07765 713967 and similarly to ask any questions you may have. My Dad asked that he would like cash on collection for it that seems to work for everybody. Thanks for reading this far. We look forward to hearing from you...
