No Reserve Auction!!!
1940 ? Sugar and cream pewter pieces
Nice antique patina
I do not know the pattern, it is simple and somewhat geometric.
Despite the clear mark on the bottom of each,
I have been unable to find any specific information on"Lion Pewter"
or the meaning of the numbers.
In the 1900's makers began using catalogs
and sometimes put catalog numbers on the wares,
but the number could also indicate
scale of quality
or the number of pieces in a full tea setting.
Both Read:
Lion Pewter
(have lion figure)
British
and a number
(2 on the creamer)
They show significant wear, but no major flaws.
I have shown a small dent near the handle of the creamer.
I have photographed as best I can.
Of a pleasing size, these fit nicely in the palm of a hand.
Both appear darker than in my pictures...
I had to alter the contrast in order to get the details
of the workmanship. They are a lead gray with a hint of yellow.
I do not know enough about Pewter to say any more.
I have NO RESERVE
and a low opening bid here...take advantage!
