Brass scalloped edge Hindu plate attributed to Vishnu

Here we have a beautiful brass plate attributed to one of the most powerful and celebrated Hindu Gods,Vishnu.

In good, weighty brass and with an unusual scalloped edge this plate has obviously been made with great attention to reflect the importance of the deity.

While plain on the reverse the front features Vishu being tended to by two servants and with a dog at his feet. The main image is surrounded by floral type scrolling which extends to the edges. Amongst this "undergrowth" four birds sit, two top and two bottom.

The plate is undamaged and in good, clean condition. We believe it has age to it due to the engraving technique, the antiqued and aged look of the brass and the general formation of the piece.
