This is a fine example of a coal mine showing the pithead gear and two miners hewing coal down the mine, with a full tub of coal and showing timber suppor ts to roof. It stands 11,5 inches x 6.5 incheswide x 3.5 inches deep.the mine section is 4.5 inches high x 3.25 inches wide.the headgear is 6.5 inches high x 3.5 inches wide x 3.75 inches deep.there are two pulleywheels 2.5 inches in diam, they are free moving. There are two miners one of which is drilling with a hand drilling machine while the other one is holding a watching brief.the miner who is drilling is 3.25 inches high and the other one is 3.75 inches high, both are wearing helmets and cap lamps and wearing kneepads.Behind them is a tub full of coal,it measures 1.75 x 2 inches x 1.5 inches high.It is a very good illustration of what mineworking was like except for the absence of coal dust which caused the death of many men before th eir expected span of life.I know personally as I have worked in five different coal mines. This is truly a realistic and well made model of a coal mine.it is extremely heavy and so the postage will be high. |
