It is both fully MIDI compatbile and compliant with Roland's GS format. The DS-330 is layed out like a drum machine so it isn't surprising to find that it also has a lot of built-in drum sounds. It was released 1992 and has often been praised as one of the great synths of the early 90s.
The Dual voices are good fun and can be very strange and what I think is really good for such a small bit of kit is that you can get in to all the editing of the sounds very easily, the effect variables, ADSR, and even cutoff and rersonance, to bend the Dr Synth in to making some bizarre sounds
