'Blue Bogey' (Tempo TAP 25).
This is an original deep groove pressing of Wilton 'Bogey' Gaynair's debut album for Tempo (TAP 25), recorded on August 26th, 1959, and produced by Tony Hall. Wilton Gaynair is on tenor sax, and he is accompanied here by Terry Shannon, piano; Kenny Napper, bass and Bill Eyden, drums. The selections are : 'Wilton's Mood'; 'Deborah'; 'Joy Spring'; 'Rythm'; 'Blues For Tony' and 'The Way You Look Tonight'.
Condition :
Vinyl : There are some light marks, and a fair amount of surface noise, but no scratches, and the record does not skip, jump or stick. Some very light spotting to the labels. The sound quality is very good, and makes for a pleasurable listen.
Sleeve : This has seen better days!
Front : The laminate is flaking and lifting around the edges and has shrunk back from the opening by 2cms, there is wear and chipping to the bottom edge and spine (no lettering visible) and rubbing to the corners, the opening has some chips and a 1cm loss at the centre and there is some loss and a 2cm split to the bottom right corner.
Back : There are two areas of loss to the top flap, which is split to the right hand side, and 3cms missing from the lower flap to the left. Also some creasing, lifting and flaking of the laminate. There are no splits to any of the edges.
Overall, a decent copy of an impossibly rare record, and an acceptable collection filler until a better copy come along (whenever that might be)!
