I can't name full title as the second word will not allow it to be listed by ebay. just turn tish the other way round and you will know what its called! Just found a box of these that have been in a cupboard for about 4 years. CD is brand new and in excellent condition.

"Weird Ssss" rates as one of the best Blue Aeroplanes CDs released. According to the cover, it contains "one-offs, false starts and side roads...." However, unlike their other unreleased collections (Friendloverplanes), it focuses on the more creative and interesting aspects of their 22 odd year career. This CD flows remarkably well for a collection of "off-shots". In fact, it is not really very "weird", but familiar, succinct and engaging.

Their unsuccessful bid for pop stardom spawned a few mediocre albums in the late 80's and early 90's. This oversight is fortunately barely noticeable on this CD. However, their early to mid 80's psychedelic-Fall/Mekons/VU-with folk-punk ethnic instruments style is well represented on "Weird tihs".

The live "Through the Smokehole" is stunning - a mixture of African soukous and Captain Beefheart (Franco and his magic band?). "Jacket Hangs" is wonderfully melodic folk-rock dirge from the brilliant "Spitting out Miracles" time frame that is as exciting as any song on that terrific album. Even the electronic-metal "Roundheads" is better (in a Bardo Pond vein) than the original version on their 1999 CD "Cavaliers" (itself, a return to previous form).

Anyone interested in intelligent and exciting rock should own this Blue Aeroplanes CD - along with their "Spitting out Miracles", "Tolerance", "Cavaliers" and the (hopefully temporary) deleted "Bop Art".
