Bloomsbury/Charleston style painted mantel clock

 A  mantel clock which I have hand painted in a style influenced by the work of Bloomsbury artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant and decorations at Charleston Farmhouse, their beautiful country home.

I have used ochres, greens, plums, soft old whites, greys and licorice black.  The front of the clock shows a reclining nude with drapes,  and the sides are painted with vases of flowers and leaves.  The top of the clock has three yellow circles with borders of dots and hatchings typical of the style.  The back of the clock is painted with roses and has an opening with a space inside large enough to stow away loads of diamonds, if you have them, or several Penguin biscuits, if you don't. The clock is of wood,  probably of no great age, with a modern battery movement and a painted and varnished card face without numerals or glass.
