Bloomsbury/Charleston style painted mantel clock

 A reproduction mantel clock which I have hand painted in a style influenced by the work of Bloomsbury artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant and decorations at Charleston Farmhouse, their beautiful country home.

I have used ochres, greens, aubergine, soft old whites, greys and licorice black, and painted decorations of flowers, leaves and circles with borders of dots and hatchings typical of the style.  The back of the clock has a door, painted with a vase of flowers, which opens to reveal a space inside large enough to stow away special items - a diary, a bag of humbugs or even a stash of cds.  The clock is of wood, of no great age, with a modern battery movement and a glass front.
