Beovox 2500 Cube treble speakers by BANG & OLUFSEN
Beovox 2500 Type 6211 are 'cube tweeter' speakers developed in the 1960s to complement both the Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 5000 / BeoLab 5000 hi-fi system in order to give superior definition to the high (treble) tones.
The problem forty+ years' ago was the same as today; whereas there is no directional problem with the bass, the dispersion of mid-range and treble frequencies has always been difficult. Beovox 2500 Cube, released in 1967, was an attempt at an omni-directional treble loudspeaker where the six driver units in the cube-shaped cabinet overlapped to cover 360 degrees.
The Beovox 2500 Cube speaker received worldwide acclaim from audiophile circles at the time for its ability to provide omnipresent (almost surround) sound. Its compact proportions and design, as well as the idea behind it have all contributed to Beovox 2500 Cube’s current status as a cult product. The speaker syastem was designed by Jacob Jensen.
With its six high-frequency tweeters radiating in all directions, Beovox 2500 could be table- or wall-mounted, or even affixed to a ceiling. The compact speakers ensured complete spatial distribution of the highest frequencies and its maximum power handling capacity in the range above 2000 Hz was 60 watts. The speaker was the ideal tweeter for the (then) Beolab 5000 system. It could be connected to Beovox 5000 and Beovox 3000.
Forty years or so after their launch, Beovox 2500 Cube speakers have reached cult status and are widely sought after. Here is your chance to acquire an exceptional pair at a reasonable price.
The authentic Bang & Olufsen speakers are in very good condition and have approximately 4m of original B&O cable affixed to each speaker. A true collectors' item!
