Excellent high grade silver 22,55grs (0.9000) coin (37m/m) struck within a set from 1865 to 1876. The rim letters are more spaced with relief legend 'Dieu Protege La Belgique *** .To note Position A. Based on Belgians past, history had been very active. The Celtic tribe called "Belgae" from which its name was derived , it was described by Ceasar as the most courageous of all the tribes of Gaul. Eventualy they capitulated to the Romans, and part of the Roman Empire as Belgica. When the decline of the Roman Empire was divided in three parts and continuos changes got them through 16th. and 17th. Centuries. More recently, on 1815, they were reunited with the Netherlands, but in 1830 emerged to create their own Kingdom and had Leopold I their own first King. His King ruled from 1831 to 1865, and Leopold II 1865 to 1909. |
