Beken of Cowes 1897-1914/ Yacht Book 1st Edition

This is a scarce first edition copy of "Beken of Cowes 1897-1914 published by Cassell in 1966. It is profusely illustraited with many black and white photographs of some of the most famous racing yachts of the time, taken by Frank Beken and his son Keith. There are also eight full-colour folding plates of reproductions of yachting pictures from the famous MacPherson Collection at the Maritime museum at Greenwich, plus a detailed accompanying text by John Chamier. The condition of the book is very good there is a little yellowing to the inside covers and end papers and the dust jacket does have some edge wear and three or four minor tears, the most notable being to the front top right hand corner. There are also the usual marks to the jacket that you would expect to find on a book 43 years old.
