Natural Hemp, Fully processed & ready for use, 3ply twisted.
Black whipped ends. - Our hemp ropes come to us on 220m coils.
- We cut that down to length, usually 15m, 10m, 7.5m & 5m as well as any custom lengths ordered, leaving a few extra centimeters.
- The ends of the ropes are whipped with whipping thread (usually black on hemp ropes).
- These are then boiled in a pot and simmer for several hours, this softens the fibres of the rope.
- Then they are dried outside (summer) or in the drying room (winter).
- Next stage is to run every rope from end to end several times roughly through heavy leather gloves.
- Each rope is then fed through a clean flame (gas) piece by biece to burn-off the soft fuzzy fibres.
- Again a rough handling through heavy leather gloves.
- Finally the ropes are sprayed with a blend of purified mineral oil and hemp oil which is massaged in by running the ropes end to end though bare hands.
- The ropes are then coiled as seen in the photos on this page and individually bagged in zip-loc bags and are ready to go.
- Alot of work goes into each and every rope, the process from beginning to end takes 3 days, it's alot more involved than just cutting a length of rope off a coil as many people do!
