1968 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP

**NEAR MINT & LABEL MISPRINT**



This superb NEAR MINT UK MONO pressing dates from around 1968 is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7027

This rare variant features a misprinted side 2 label which omits the 'Day In The Life' title.

Both labels carry the 'Sold in UK..' text & have 'Gramophone Co..' rims.
There is no tax/price code visible in the centre of either label.

Housed in a fully laminated, inner-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with 'regular width' spine.
Complete with its original 'Patents Applied For' plain white inner-sleeve & unused dark green cut-out sheet.

Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1
Stamper numbers: 2/MMP & a symbol which looks like '01'/MMH
Disc weight: 146g

As you can see, this is a spectacular set with just a single spindle trails to the side 2 label but none on side 1.


Visual: EXCELLENT PLUS

Both playing surfaces are extremely clean & bright and retain all of their 'as new' deep gloss shines.
Close inspection in strong daylight shows up 2 light 5mm hairline scratches on side 1 together with a number of non-feelable storage marks - not scratches.
Careful examination beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than a sparkling rainbow gloss but no addition marks or wear - not even any wispy paper hairlines.

Audio: NEAR MINT

This copy has clearly received just one or two plays at most and the silent side 1 run-in and crystal-clear ambience of the opening track confirms this.
My careful play check at volume revealed absolutely no traces of any groove/play wear or background noise in any channel on ANY track of this incredible mono mix.
Easily worn areas such as the delicate 'She's Leaving Home' & 'Lucy In The Sky..' all play perfectly cleanly & clearly with no clicks, ticks or any other such distractions.
Even the final piano fade-out is free from any ticks, clicks or any audible blemishes.
This blue-chip investment-grade copy will not need upgrading.

Cover: EXCELLENT PLUS

An outstanding vivid &  vibrant example which retains an immaculate, 'as new' high-gloss front panel laminate which is 'as new' - free from any scratching, ring/storage wear or any 'thumbnail' creases.

There is a small shelfwear bruise to the lower right corner, but all of the others are clean, square & undamaged.

All other corners are sharp & square and all opening edges are clean, unworn & undamaged with no tears or feathering to any.

The rear panel is in the same amazing condition and is too without and 'thumbnails' or any other creasing or wear.

The only significant blemish on the entire cover is a tiny 1cm graze to one of the lower edges (visible in the above right image). However, there are no stresses or splits to any of the others.

The inside of the gatefold is 'as new' with no marks or wear to any part.

The spine is very clean & white with a full laminate covering and perfect, undamaged lettering.

Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT

A first class white & flat example with the unavoidable light disc impression & a small invisible repair to one seam but no other faults.
