First day cover to commerorate the 40th Anniversary of the World's First Decisive Aerial Campaign - The Battle of Britain 15 September 1940.

The cover was stamped on 13 September 1980 & was flown from RAF Coningsby to RAF Abingdon in Lancaster PA474 of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The cover has been signed by Squadron Leader Des Fopp AFC, who flew with 17 Squadron during the Battle of France & then the Battle of Britain.

The cover is a limited edition, & is number 1058 of 1490. Also included within the cover are information cards giving the details of the career of Des Fopp, including a black & white photo & also a card giving a brief history of the Battle of Britain.
