I started collecting stock from this era about 8 months ago, while recovering from cancer and having a lot of time on my hands at home. I remember seeing the Class 45s and 46s at St Pancras in the 70’s, as I travelled in on the ‘BedPan’ line to work at Kings Cross were I worked as a guard. They looked pretty impressive back then and I would enjoy watching and listening to them as I wandered around the area. So, when I got the chance to collect my old memories in model form, these were very high up on my list!
This ModelZone Class 45 has its own story to tell. I purchased it as the result of a very unpleasant business with an ebayer who last November, attempted to sell me a used Class 45 114 purporting it to be new. It arrived with a broken Headcode and a lot of wear to the under chassis. I returned it to the seller, only to be accused of sending him a duff loco for his ‘new’ one. He refused to refund my money and it took 6 weeks for ebay to finally get the money out of him. You can easily find out about this one, as it is the only negative I have ever had! I was very upset, as I was housebound and still in a lot of pain after just finishing my chemo/radio. Anyway, the story goes that I vowed never to buy the Bachmann 45 114, just to prove that I had never owned one and had definitely not swapped it!
So I was overjoyed when this model came up on ebay just before Christmas. This is a lovely loco and she runs quietly and smoothly. I have carefully added the hoses and cables and painted them, as you can see from the photos. The metal crests and nameplates are untouched and in the box. The box is in very good shape too. The Bachmann/Modelzone picture 'cover card' is stamped '277'.
So why am I selling it? Well, I have gone green! I am now collecting and building a 1959/60 layout, were steam and green are the mean! It was a lot of fun collecting all my 70s stock and it got me through some dark times, but I would like to move on now and pass the pleasure of owning this fine loco on to someone else. How about you?
Because of the weight and value of this loco, the postage cost is £8.50p by Special Delivery. It is a lot of money, but I do not like taking chances with items of value. I don’t want this to put you off of bidding, so what I will do is subsidise it by £2 towards the postage. That’s a fair deal I think!
Please check my feedback reputation. You the buyer can be always be assured of a First Class Service. You will not be disappointed! I will take questions, but not offers! Please read my conditions. This is an ebay sale only! Many thanks for looking at my listings and all the best if you decide to bid.
