Why Sleeping Bags?

• Your baby will wake up warm nd therefore be more likely to go back to sleep
• Your baby cannot slip down inside the sleeping bag: sheets, blanketsand duvets can go over baby's head
• Your baby can kick and wriggle contentedly and does not feel constricted
• Babies cannot get between the cot bars
• Sleeping Bags prevent baby from scratching itchyeczema
• When travelling, or in strange surroundings, your baby will always feel confortable in its own sleeping bag
• The move from crib to cot and eventually to a bed is much easier.

What is tog rating and which should I have?

• Tog is simply a unit of measurement as to how much and how quickly the bag loses heat
• Tog does not mean weight of the bag - heavy is not necessarily warmer
• Remember baby retains its own body warmth when inside a Sleeping Bag and therefore the rating should never exceed 3 tog

Slumber Sack has two ratings:-

• 2.5 Tog - for use all year round. Thisis equivalent to 2 blankets and a sheet
• 1.0 Tog - for use in warm rooms and hot summer nights. This is equivalent to 1 blanket and a sheet

The tog rating of the sleeping bag you use depends on the temperature of the Baby's nursery. Try to keep baby's room at a reasonable constant temperature.

If your baby is too warm or too cold then simply adjust their nightwear.

What Size Sleeping Bag?

Do not use a Sleeping bag for the first few weeks after birth. Your baby should wiegh over 8lb (3.5kg) before using a sleeping bag.

Sizes 1 and 2 have 'snap' shoulder fastening and an all round zip.  This makes for easy opening and changing without disturbing baby too much

Size 3 hasa centre zip which is opened from the foot. his prevents older babies undoing the shoulder snaps and 'escaping'.

Size 1 - 66cm - To fit from birth up to approx. 3/6 months

Size 2 - 86 cm - To fit from 3 months up to approx. 12/18 months

Size 3 - (adjustable) 92/112cm - To fit from 12 months to 2 years (folded) 3 years (extended)
