BUTTERNUT SQUASH SEEDS CAN BE SOWN INDOORS FROM MARCH ONWARDS. SOW THE SEEDS INDIVIDUALLY ON THE EDGE IN SMALL POTS OF MOIST SEED COMPOST CA 2.0 CM DEEP. PLACE IN A WARM SPOT CA 15-18C AND COVER THE POTS WITH CLINGFILM UNTIL THE SEEDLINGS EMERGE. GROW UNDER COOL LIGHT CONDITIONS BUT NOT IN BRIGHT SUN. GRADAULLY HARDEN THE SQUASH SEEDLINGS OFF CA 2-3 WEEKS BEFORE PLANTING THEM OUT. WAIT UNTIL THE DANGER OF FROST HAS PASSED AND ALLOW CA 90.0 CM BETWEEN EACH PLANT

ALTERNATIVELY YOU CAN SOW OUTDOORS FROM MAY ONWARDS. WATER THE SOWING POSITIONS AND SOW TWO TO THREE SEEDS AT EACH SOWING STATION CA 2.0 CM DEEP. ALLOW CA 90.0 CM BETWEEN EACH GROUP. ONCE SEEDLINGS EMERGE REMOVE THE TWO WEAKER ONES AND LEAVE ONLY THE STRONGEST SEEDLING TO GROW ON

WATER THE SQUASH FREQUENTLY, ESPECIALLY DURING DRY SPELLS. ONCE THE FRUIT STARTS TO SWELL, FEED REGULARLY WITH A LIQUID FERTILISER
