The fact that they numbered among their members Neil Young and Stephen Stills doesn't hurt their seminal status any, but the songs themselves are virtually indestructible. From the aforementioned non-protest anthem to the sunny, melodic "Bluebird" and the burning psychedelia of "Mr. Soul," these guys were at the vanguard of so many '60s pop styles it's scary. This long-awaited, much-embraced box includes an abundance of previously unreleased tracks (demos, outtakes, even some never-before-heard compositions) that make it a must for hardcore fans. And any fan of '60s rock who's taken by the considerable charms of the aforementioned tunes is probably already well on their way to becoming a hardcore fan.
