These songs were recorded by Holly living in his Greenwich apartment 3B, The Breevoort 8th Street, New York City, Holly had split with Petty and was writing new material, The recorder he used was one that Petty had sold to him, a high quality Ampex that was used at the Petty studios to record Holly's That'll be the day! With new equipment coming out every year. Petty was always trying to keep the studio up with state of the art equipment. The apartment tapes were recorded in December 1958 and early January 1959, These tapes were released with overdubbing two different times, first with Jack Hanson, a New York producer, then they were overdubbed again by Norman Petty using the Fireballs as backing musicians, You'll hear them now in their original high
quality form. As A bonus is the previously unreleased apartment tape and talk chatter with his wife Maria Elena, The young couple were wed in the Holly home on August 15, 1958, In a simple ceremony performed by Buddy's minister, the pastor of the first Baptist church of Lubbock, The chatter is very fascinating material, like being there in the apartment with Buddy and his wife, You can even hear the transit buses riding by the Apt. building,
