BSA C15 Race/Track Bike - Circa1960

BSA C15 Race/Track Bike. Circa 1960.

The bike was registered with the VMCC Road/Race section as BSA C15/247cc/1960. Reg. V2/32.

Some of its history is:-

"The bike finished 2nd place in the BHR pre-'63 250cc championship in 2005. Then laid up untill July'07. 2 test races in '07 and then a complete strip and re-build over the winter for the '08 season.Tested at Mallory and then raced at Donington, Cadwell Park and Lydden."

I have a 19 page hand written booklet by a previous owner with much information on its modifications and performance.

His written modifications include:-

Dunlop KR 82 Tyres, Front Soft and Rear Hard.

Alloy rims, Ally front brake, competition linings.

Modified fork damper - better damping.

B44 inlet valve, inlet port and carb 3/16", B44 flat cam followers, B50MX cams, BSA Rocket 3 racing piston.

Compression  13:1.

Big end INA special needle roller/siver plated cage.

Smoothed/heated con rod, lightened flywheels, Timing side needle roller.

Close Ratio gearbox, 5 plate clutch.

Tuned exhaust, Boyer Brandson ignition, bronze v/guides, Gold Star valve springs, 18 tooth g/box sprocket.

Uses Castrol R40 oil in engine and gearbox and runs on Menthanol.

I ran the engine yesterday, started easily on a paddock starter (no kick start) and sounds fabulous. All gears engaged correctly, the clutch sticks when cold and you have to work the clutch lever whilst running the rear wheel to free it - this is because of the 5 plate modification with extra strong springs. OK once warm.

This is a pure track bike - not road registered, no V5. A container of Methanol is included and the fuel tank is almost full.

The Frame Number is C15 14543 and the Engine is C15 4736.

I have some C15 engine and other spares also listed. One of the engines is number C15 14543.
