This is the perfect book for anyone interested in wool-crafts such as spinning, feltmaking & weaving. It is an ideal reference when deciding which breeds of sheep to look for when you are planning a project. In the past, I have found it especially useful when buying fleece on ebay. However, I now have my hands full with my own sheep, with little time to use fleece from other breeds.  

  • Each breed has a double page spread with a colour and black & white photograph, as well as a general description of fleece properties. There is also a summary for each breed, stating where it is found, the most common uses of the fleece, the quality, softness & thickness of the fibres.
  • Over 80 pages packed with useful & concise information & easy-to-use, alphabetical layout, all accompanied with detailed photographs.
  • Well written & easy to read.
  • This book will enable a complete beginner to select a suitable fleece, while experienced spinners will be inspired by the wealth of information.
  • Condition is very good for its age but is not sold as mint. There may be some microscopic scuffs & tiny dog-ears to the cover.
  • This auction is for one book.
  • Paperback, published in 1978, by The British Wool Marketing Board.
  • Size approx. 8½" x 10" (21cm x 27.5cm).
