BRITISH ARMY (CANADIAN?) WATER BOTTLE & CARRIER 1944

A British Army 1937 Pattern Web Equipment water bottle and carrier.

The water bottle is the standard metal bottle covered in khaki cloth.  The cork/metal stopper seems to be the original (and is well and truly stuck in!); the retaining string is obviously not original.  The cloth cover is in good condition but has been re-stitched around the top and has a small split about 1.5" long at the bottom (it is a split in the cloth, not just loose stitching).

The carrier is the "skeleton" version with press stud fastening over the top of the bottle, tight but it will still do up.  The webbing straps have been blancoed a green shade.

Inside the carrier are some ink stamp markings, some of which are not that clear.  They seem to read "ZI ?? Ltd" with a broad arrow within a large "C" stamped over that mark.  A broad arrow within a "C" is a Canadian military issue mark.  The date seems to be 1944 but again is not that clear.

Overall in very good condition.
