Brian Reavill has been a Systems Analyst since the 1970s. He previously wrote the Systems Page for the Raceform Handicap book under the pen name ‘Abacus’.

The Clever System.

Of all the systems I use, this is my favourite. I thoroughly enjoy using it – not least because of its profitability, but also because the selection method throws up some decent priced winners and also because of the staking plan I use, which I have designed specifically for use with this system and no other.

On this system we bet in just one selected race a day – having said that there may be days when no selected race can be found. (In the six month period from December 1^st. 2008 to May 31^st. 2009 from a total of 182 days a selected race was found on 153 days. Of the 29 days when there was no bet, 11 of these were due to abandonements and 3 were days when there is no racing).

Total profit achieved during the six month period was 238 points.

Since then, from June 1^st 2009 up to Oct 30^th 2009 (the date of inserting this listing) the Clever System has made a further profit of 193 points.

Any newspaper can be used to operate this system.  The Racing Post online at also provides race cards the evening before each race and they can be used to operate this system.
