For auction is this rare and fine 10" Lamp Base made by Bretby around 1920. Offered in exeptionally good condition with no chips or cracks etc - just some very fine crazing to the glaze in places. Skilfully modelled & painted, this is a representation of the "Boot Black" Sam Weller from Charles Dickens's The Pickwick Papers. Has mounting point for lamp fixtures but is a lovely decorative object in it's own right. This is a rare opportunity to own this piece. The mark is an impressed ENGLAND with BRETBY impressed, a little indistinctly, above it.
