 The new BM-1 pickup features a lengthened sensor element to enable it work properly on the bridges of Bouzoukis, Mandolas, Octave Mandolins and Citterns that traditionally have wider string spacing than a standard mandolin. As with all Schatten pickups installation is fast, non-permanent and non-invasive, allowing you add a pickup system to your instrument without having to change the bridge or modify anything. The BM1-Pro Features the new MVC jack assembly which attaches securely, but non-permanently to the underside of the existing tailpiece, so you don't even need to drill a hole for a jack-socket!  The BM-1 offers a professional alternative to feedback-prone soundboard bugs, "electric" sounding magnetic pickups or tranducers that require bridge modification or replacement.

     The BM-1 sensor is small and light in weight. 1/4" high by 2 1/4" in length and will not affect the acoustic sound of the instrument. It is designed specifically for larger mandolin family and similar multi-course instruments with moveable or fixed bridges. The pickup requires only a small flat area on the bridge face or side for the sensor to adhere to. The MVC tailpiece-mounted jack output assembly has a protective felt backing so as not to scratch the surface of the instrument. The output assembly is lightweight, small and descreet (only 1/2" in height) and adds no noticible weight to the instrument. Full fitting instructions and proprietary pickup/tailpiece fixing tape is supplied.

 The BM1-Pro is a passive pickup which will produce good results into most electric or acoustic guitar amplifiers. Due to design factors inherent in P.A. mixers  (and these vary considerably), if you are running straight into a P.A., then a Preamp/ DI may be necessary to boost line signal strength and lower the impedance so that the mixer receives a proper signal.  The pickup will work with any preamplifer designed for piezo pickups.
