Book Description: J Tompkins for Brigham Young et Alia, Liverpool, 1841. Cloth. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Fourth Edition. 16mo - 5.5 Inches. A book which needs no introduction, described on the title as the 'First European from the Second American edition', although regarded as the fourth edition overall and the definitive text. Bound in recent dark brown, blindstamped full calf with gilt spine titles on red morocco spine label. Raised bands to spine. Gilt date to foot of spine. (4), 634, (1), 638-643 pages. Pagination jump between last page of text and first page of index is quite correct as per Sabin 83041. First two leaves subtly reinforced along the gutter to an extent of a few millimetres. Very tiny stress tear of 1/4 inch to title page. Tiny 'W' to title page with a couple of tiny blemishes. Otherwise internally extremely tidy with no foxing, staining, tears, etc. Probably a tiny bit cropped. Overall an exceptional copy of a very early edition of the Book of Mormon.
