BOND BUG 700ES I bought this Bond Bug nine years ago and drove it for a while, but then the head gasket started leaking so I took the engine out. Unfortunately, work abroad and a young family meant that I never put it back together. The registration document and the stickers on the car say that it is an 850cc, but when I took the engine out I discovered that it is an original 700cc. I intended to rebuild an 850cc to replace it, but that never happened so I am selling the car with the 700cc that came with it (not the same number as shown in the registration document). The head is off and the engine seems to be in generally good condition. The bodywork is generally good, with just a couple of small cracks in the fibreglass which can be easily repaired. The paintwork isn't great (it would need a respray to really look good) but it is presentable. The interior was reupholstered by a previous owner in a non-standard crimson colour (see photos) and is in quite good condition. The chassis seems to be quite solid (although there has been some welding in the past), it just needs cleaning and repainting, as does the rear axle, suspension and bootlid. The brakes are OK except for a leaking wheel cylinder on one rear wheel. The car comes with a stainless exhaust (specially made), an uprated radiator and wide Dunlop alloys with 165x70 tyres. Engine, gearbox, clutch, propshaft, radiator, petrol tank, exhaust, battery and anti-roll bar are all off the car, but all the parts are there and there are no major faults so this would be an easy rebuild project for someone. I have set the buy-it-now price quite high so if you want it cheaper please bid. The car is tax exempt but has no MoT and is on SORN so it will need to be trailered away. |
