The images contained within the ten photo albums, presumably part of a larger portfolio of campaign photographs, contain numerous photographs included in Cuthbert's published selection as well as many extra, unpublished, photographs of the various activities and deeds by the officers. The photographs in the albums are all uncaptioned but show camp scenes, trekking, native people, games, bathing, etc., across the three-year period. Locations and the identities of some of the soldiers is evident from the published book.
