I am reluctantly selling all of my amateur radio equipment and listed for sale here is my BNOS 180 watt 144 Mhz linear amplifier. This is a top quality amplifier bought in 1984. It has been very well cared for and is in great unmarked condition, looking almost as new. It works in all modes, SSB, CW and FM. It can be set up to operate by microphone activation. This amplifier has been carefully stored in its original packaging box for the last five years since I stopped using it. I was a very active and keen two meter DXr and originally used a Dressler 200 watt valve amplifier with my set up but it generated harmonics and caused problems for neighbours. I bought this BNOS linear amplifier as it had an excellent reputation for producing a clean signal and solved the interference problem immediately.
This amplifier proved itself when used with my Icom 251E base station (also listed for sale) by winning the leading fixed station single operator section in the RSGB national contest in 1985; from memory a 12 hour event. The amplifier worked beautifully.
Just before I carefully stored it away in dry conditions it was working perfectly and although have not been able to test the rig by working any stations I have tested all of the functions and as far as I can tell it is still working perfectly.
I would prefer that the winning bidder collects this item personally but I will dispatch this amplifier by whichever method the buyer wishes so long as it is insured. I will charge only the actual cost of postage which will be calculated at the end of the auction.
