The ab roller is a great motivator, just seeing it sitting in the corner makes me do my crunches quite regularly. It works well and was easily assembled. You can put it apart to save storage space and have it ready to work out within a few seconds. The included mat is quite nice, too.
If you just want to protect your neck while doing crunches you can save some money by getting a tennis ball and holding it down onto your chest with your chin. This takes the strain and pressure off your neck and you can focus on your abs.
The roller is well worth the money if you need a little reminder to get you off the couch. I have used it for 15-30 min every other day and saw results quickly :-)
 
 
 
 
Roller was easy to put together, good quality for price, solid but nice and light when picking up to move out of way. Not used one before but seems to work well, makes crunches a lot easier. Not looked at dvd yet but paper instructions clear enough for a few different ab exercises.
 
 
I used one like this at the gym but wanted to do crunches more often at home but wanted to make sure I did them right - the ab roller makes it easy to keep the right position.
