Blenheim Squadrons of World War 2. Published by del Prado 2002 (originally published by Osprey as part of the 'Aircraft of the Aces: men & legends' series) . 64 pages softback. Book size 10" x 7". Built in large numbers in the years leading up to WW2, the Blenheim saw use as both a fighter and bomber thanks to its high speed in relation to the biplanes that it was replacing. The first Mk entered service in 1937 and, as the backbone type in Bomber Command at the outbreak of war, it fell to the Blenheim to make both the first recce sortie into Germany and the first bombing raid. The Blenheim also served from 1939-1942 as pioneer radar-equipped night fighters and long-range patrol aircraft with Coastal Command. This book gives much information on this aircraft in all the theatres that it served in during WW2. Well illustrated with black/white archive photographs showing the aircraft on the ground and in the air, air and ground crews etc. as well as scale drawings and colour drawings showing the colours, markings, badges etc. carried by some of the aircraft and two pages showing the flying clothing worn by the crews. Few very light marks on the covers otherwise the book is in good condition. Ideal for the aviation historian or modeller.
