BISQUE HEAD ANTIQUE FAIRY DOLL









 

This pretty little doll was made in Germany by Recknagle and the head is impressed 21 R. She dates from C1910.

She is 10.5 " 27cm tall and has a bisque head and composition body.

Her blue glass eyes are weighted and in working order,the eye lid wax is missing from the left eye but intact on the right. Her open mouth has four upper teeth and she wears a pretty golden brown mohair wig.The head is in good condition and is free of cracks and chips.

She has a five piece body with moulded socks and red shoes.The composition is a little dirty on the legs but it is in good condition for its age with just the thumb on the right hand missing.

She comes dressed in a lovely original fairy costume and looks to have been used at the top of a Christmas tree. Her dress consists of layers of frilled net and a cream silk underdress.The top dress is sheer organza with tiny dark gold spots on it. Two lace wings ( one has a tear in it) are attached to the back of the dress and are edged with gold tinsel type trimming which is also around the hem of the dress. She still hold her fairy wand. Please note that the dress and wings are very delicate and have tears and soiling caused by age and wear.The trimming also needs re-sewing to the hem of the dress.This is an antique dress please do not buy this doll expecting the dress to be like new!

This delightful doll would still look lovely decorating a Christmas Tree today.
