A beautiful hand crafted, hand painted and lacquered papier mache box made in Russia-“Zhar Ptiza” (a famous fairy tale "Fire Bird").The artist signed the box on the front (at bottom ). The box is painted in traditional dark rich colours over black background and covered in several layers of laquer, in a village called Palekh- world-famous for its boxes. The box is painted red inside. The craftsmanship is amazing, which you can see in all the details. The artist did a fantastic job, which you can see in attention to detail, the movement in the figures. A wonderful piece of art which can also be practical- can be used as a jewellery/cufflink box, etc. Will make a lovely and unusual present, which will last forever and will increase in value with time.
